Hungerburg and Alpine Zoo
A "must" for all visitors to Innsbruck: The ascent to the Hungerburg and a trip to the Alpine Zoo.
The stations of the new Hungerburgbahn funicular railway was designed by the star architect Zaha Hadid.
Within a few minutes the modern funicular will take you over extremely steep terrain up to Innsbruck's sunny terrace. Once there you can visit the quaint cable museum or just marvel at the spectacular view over the city. Stop off on your way up or down for a trip to the Alpine Zoo: Europe's highest zoo boasts a complete collection of alpine fauna as well as hunderds of wild animals. The visitor can also experience farm animals used in alpine agriculture.
